Text:  2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
Exodus 20:1-17
1 And God spake all these words, saying,
God is the ultimate authority, not government, not the supreme court not ANY man's authority etc…  Humans are not capable of governing themselves. All attempts have failed absolutely.
Only God can achieve the perfect society. Man made rules are opinions which vary. God's rules are sure and cannot be put on trial. Following the ten commandments will bring about the desired result.
Our nation was founded on the teachings of the bible including the ten commandments. This way of doing things has formed the greatest nation the world has ever seen. We stand for human rights, women's equality, ended slavery, formed a country by the people, of the people and for the people. These values could not be possible without the ten commandments.
2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
God brought his people out of slavery because his will is for us to live our lives in a free society. A world free of tyranny and cruelty.
Let's see how a world like this would be.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.
for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
Is one sin greater than another? The answer is yes. Stealing a paper clip is not as serious as murder. This commandment, taking the Lords name in vain is the worst sin. It is the same as blasphemy against the Holy Ghost which cannot be forgiven. Lord will not hold him guiltless. This sin will not be forgiven.
The worst sin is committing evil in God's name.
Does using God's name without meaning or as a by word is what it means. This is partly true. Let's look at the NIV bible.
Exodus 20:7 New International Version (NIV)
7 "You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
It says misuse God's name. This means to use God's name in reproach. This will damage his name. The Islamics torture murder steal etc. in the name of God. The greatest sin is religious evil.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
The main message in this commandment is physical rest. This elevates the human being, self- esteem, self- value etc. Humans are beasts of burden. This commandment changes all that. This changes that because it gives him dignity respect and freedom. In Egypt these people were not free to receive the rest they needed. This was detrimental to their health both physical and mental.
Don't be a slave to work, money etc. Millionaires that work seven days a week are slaves to their money. Even slaves have fundamental rights.
The fourth commandment strengthens mariages, families and friendships etc.
Even animals need rest. Is this the first animal rights law? Strangers need rest also.
Work six days.
Verse 9. Six days shalt thou labour.
Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Hebrews 4:1-6  Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3 For we which have believed do enter rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5 And in this place again, if they shall enter into my rest.
6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief.
Matthew 11:28-30  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Acts 20:35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Work or go hungry
12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
13 Thou shalt not kill.
Murder is not wrong unless GOD saws it is. Man saying (murder is wrong) is an OPION.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
