COME AS CHILDREN

            Text: Mark 10:13-16 And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.

14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

            These children had no need of physical healing nor were they capable of understanding his teaching as adults do.

            Those that brought these children seem to be concerned about their own souls.

Attributes of Children

            Children are; Humble;

             Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

            Job 22:29 When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.

            Psalm 9:12 When he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them: he forgetteth not the cry of the humble.

            Isaiah 5:15 And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled. Is there to much pride in America today?

            Philippians 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

            Children are, Simple'

             Psalm 19:7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

            Children are, Trustful

             Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

              Children are, Inquisitive (must learn and believe).

              Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

                                      Minds open, Ready to receive (from the Holy Ghost).

               Luke 11:9-11 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

              11 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

                                      The child Samuel said;

             1 Samuel 3:10 And the Lord came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth. Do you want to hear from the Lord?

.

Children depend on their parents for wisdom.

               James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

                                       Children go where their parents send them.

               Matthew 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

Children take what is provided for them.

               Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

            When we receive Jesus we receive the Things of God. Jesus took the children in his arms in token of his affection and concern for them. He put his hands on them and blessed them as they desired. Jesus did more than the parents asked. They just asked for Jesus to touch them.

            Isaiah 40:11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

             Jesus received the children and gave them their hearts desire.
