HELMET, SWORD, PRAYER

Text: Ephesians 6:17-18 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints

HELMET

The helmet represents the mind.

1. The mind as a faculty of understanding, feeling, desiring

      2. Mind, i.e. spirit, way of thinking and feeling

      3. Thoughts, either good or bad

Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind

Rom 12:2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

1Co 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

2Co 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you

Eph 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind

Phl 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus

2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Heart

            1. That organ in the animal body which is the center of the circulation of the blood, and hence was regarded as the seat of physical life.

            2. Denotes the center of all physical and spiritual life.

            3. The center and seat of spiritual life.

            4. The soul or mind, as it is the fountain and seat of the thoughts, passions, desires, appetites, affections, purposes, endeavors.

            4. of the soul so far as it is affected and stirred in a bad way or good, or of the soul as the seat of the sensibilities, affections, emotions, desires, appetites, passions.

1.

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Mat 6:21

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also

Mat 12:2

O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

Mat 12:35

A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

Mat 13:15

For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Mat 15:8

This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

Mat 15:8

This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

Rom 10:9

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

SWORD

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Psalms 138:2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

PRAYER

James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

1 Timothy 2:8 I will therefore that men every where pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

Prayer is what holds the armour in place.

The whole armour of God

Loins girt about with truth breastplate of righteousness;

Feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Shield of faith

Helmet of salvation,

Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Praying always
