DISCIPLESHIP

          VITAL SYSTEMS
          Text: 1 Corinthians 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
          The church is the body of Christ. In the human body there are nine systems. The repertory system, the skeletal system, the nerve system, the circulatory etc… In every Church there are should be five systems. These systems are;C, disciple, worship, fellowship, and ministry.
          We are going to look at each one of these systems. We will continue today with discipleship.
Text: 2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
          This scripture could be used to embrace the idea of oral tradition. This is fine as long as it is consistent with scripture. There is a lot more to being a Christian than doctrine.
          1 Timothy 3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

          Titus 2:4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children.
          Ephesians 6:2-7 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
 3That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
 4And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
 5Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
 6Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
 7With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
          Ephesians 4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
            11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers.
            12 For the perfecting (equipping) of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
          The word Pastor means Shepard. Part of a Shepard's duty is to train. Maybe we could use the word Mentor.
          How do we mentor a new believer? Prayer, explain scripture or put in contact with someone that can. Have over for dinner, take out to breakfast, be an example, be a friend.
          Don't smother them.
          Don't beat them up with scripture.
          1 Timothy 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach.
          Take someone under your wing and have a more abundant life.
