POWER TO THE PEOPLE

          Text: Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

          Definition of power;

          1. Ability or capacity to do something.

          2. A specific ability.

          3. A person who exercises control, influence, or authority.

          1 Corinthians 2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.

          1 Corinthians 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

          Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

There is power in the scriptures.

          Psalm 29:4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

          God spoke the heavens and the earth into existence.

          Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

     Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
 

     Mark 2:10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
 

     Mark 3:15 And to have power to heal sicknesses.

 To cast out devils.

 

Power is given to the disciples

     Mark 6:7 And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits.
 

Power is given to the church

     Mark 9:1 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
 

Our power is in harmony with scriptures

     Mark 12:24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
 

The return of Jesus will be with Power

     Mark 13:26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
 

     Mark 14:62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

Power is authority. It goes with responsibility
