Text: Galatians 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
One translation of the bible says; When the time was right God entered the world in the person of Jesus.
John the Baptist prepared the way
Every thing was right for this event. This was a remarkable blending of humanity and divinity.
The timing was perfect.
There was unity in the Roman empire that gave freedom for the spreading of the gospel.
The routes of commerce, shipping lanes and Roman highways made it possible for the spreading of the gospel.
The Greek language commonly spoken in all provinces of the empire made communication possible to all the people. (This language began to spread with Alexander the great three hundred years before and became the common language of the empire). See the eights chapter of Daniel.
What was the purpose?
The purpose of the coming of the Lord was to redeem us from the bondage of the law.
Galatians 4:1 Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
2But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.
3Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world.
Any form of legalism is bondage.
When we were under the Mosaic law we were as servants. We were under tutors waiting for graduation.
Galatians 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Redemption
4But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
6And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
7Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
God robed himself in flesh so that we can have his spirit in us.
