POMEGRANATES AND BELLS

Text: Exodus 28:31-35  And thou shalt make the robe of the ephod all of blue.
32 And there shall be an hole in the top of it, in the midst thereof: it shall have a binding of woven work round about the hole of it, as it were the hole of an habergeon, that it be not rent.
33 And beneath upon the hem of it thou shalt make pomegranates of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, round about the hem thereof; and bells of gold between them round about:
34 A golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, upon the hem of the robe round about.
35 And it shall be upon Aaron to minister: and his sound shall be heard when he goeth in unto the holy place before the Lord, and when he cometh out, that he die not.
Many things in the Old Testament have a spiritual meaning in the new.
Hebrews 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

What is the spiritual meaning of the pomegranates and the bells? Let's say the pomegranates represents the fruit of the spirit and the bells represents the gifts of the spirit.

Fruit of the spirit
Galatians 5:22-26 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Fruit of the spirit
            Love.
             Joy.
             Peace.
             Longsuffering.
             Gentleness.
             Goodness.
             Faith.
                  Meekness.
             Temperance.
As a tree produces food for the body the spirit of God produces fruit for the soul. Soul food.

Gifts of the spirit
1 Corinthians 12:1-11 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.
Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. Some gifts operate in public while others operate one on one. All the gifts have a special purpose. There is a time and place for all of them.
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

Gifts of the spirit
For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit.
To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
2 Knowing gift.
            Faith.
            Discerning of spirits.

5 Speaking gift.
            Word of wisdom.
            Word of knowledge.
            Prophecy.
            Divers kinds of tongues.
            Interpretation of tongues.

2 Action gift.
            Gifts of healing.
            Working of miracles.

            The POMEGRANATES AND BELLS
Pomegranates and Bells gently touched each other making a great sound for all to hear.
The gifts of the spirit and the fruit of the spirit should bring pleasant sounds to the ears of God and to each of us.
