Text: Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Ephesians 6:10-19 finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Every Christian should desire to be strong in the Lord. This doesn't just happen. It requires a lot of work. This must be done in the power of God. This comes by applying the following.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Locate the enemy
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Flesh and blood; Our battle isn't physical.
Against principalities; It's the principal of the matter. We as Christians must take a stand on moral and ethical issues. Don't partake in these things such as off color jokes, shady deals etc…
Powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world. There are people in powerful positions that are wicked. Don't be influenced by them. These are secular positions.
Spiritual wickedness in high places. Jesus called these people wolves in sheep clothing. People in charge of religious groups can be very dangerous.
How can we stand against these enemies?
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Loins girt about with truth. John 17:14-19 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Breastplate of righteousness; Psalms1:1-6 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.
Taking the shield of faith;
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
