LISTEN TO PARENTS

Text: Proverbs 1:8-9 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

Chose good friends
Proverbs 1:10-19 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
Gang mentality (Bullies)
11 If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause.
Sometimes we are faced with temptations from our peers and friends. They will try to get you to join in with the majority and enjoy sinful pleasures. They may say things like 'go ahead, this won't hurt you'. Just try it. It's not like they say, etc…
You can resist such temptations by maintaining a close relationship with God. There will be times when you will have to stand alone. Don't compromise your holy stands just because the majority does.
The way of compromise and sinful pleasure leads to heartache, distress, calamity and destruction.
 Listen to Solomon
The sinner wants the gain of others instead of working for their own gain.
They say;
12 Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:
13 We shall find all precious substance; we shall fill our houses with spoil:
14 Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
15 My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
16 For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
17 Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.
18 And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.
19 So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.
Jobs advise
Job 4:8 Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.
Paul agrees
Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. All crops take time to grow, both good and bad.
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
God's way of living brings sucess

Proverbs 3:1-10 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.
It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
