THE CHURCH AT ROME

Text: Romans 1:11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift; to the end ye may be established.
Who established this church?
Nobody knows for sure. There is a lot of speculation. It appears that they didn't have an Apostle to guide them.
In his letter to this church, in Romans 15:20 Paul indicates that they didn't have anyone to teach them.  Every Christian needs to be established in the faith. A lot of people get saved but never find out what Christianity is really all about. This seems to be the case here. This is why Paul wrote this letter.
Romans 15:20 Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation.
How was this church established?
There are several of possibilities. It was not Peter as some teach. Those who founded this church could have been Paul's converts from Macedonia and Asia. It could have been Jews and Proselytes converted on the day of Pentecost.  I like to think it was those at Jerusalem that were scattered abroad because of persecution.
Acts 8:4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad went everywhere preaching the word.

What did Paul wright about?
There is more theology in this epistle to Rome than in any that he wrote to any other church.  It is Paul's purpose here to establish these people at Rome. They had no one.
          Paul explained about;
The Mosaic Law.
Salvation for Gentiles.
Man's desperate need for righteousness and how to receive it.
Assurance of salvation.
Dying with Christ.
Living with Christ.
Walking in the spirit.
These are just some of the issues he dwelt with.
          What can I do?
I do my best, what more can God expect!
If I keep the Ten Commandments, I will be saved
Why can't I live good enough? I really try.
I'm saved, but I don't understand how to live for Jesus.
