MOTHERS GIVE

Text: Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
Giving money is not the solution for all our problems. The Government has proved that!
Jesus is our example
The last thing that Jesus did before he died was to make arrangements for his mother.
We are commanded
This is not a suggestion, it is a commandment. (Exodus 20:12).

Ephesian 6:2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise.

Paul recognizes the value of mothers
2 Timothy 1:5  When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
What are the qualities of mothers?
1.     Sensitive spirit;  Luke 2:18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.                               19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
A mother's heart is like a storehouse, she treasures everything that happens to her family. She remembers when others forget.
She rejoices when her children shows maturity and grieves when they act foolishly.
Proverbs 10:1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.
Mothers are proud when their children display wholesome attributes. Mothers shape the character of their children.
2.     Sincere faith;  2 Timothy 1:5  When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

Parents can be the wrong influence on their children.
1 Kings 22:52  And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
2 Chronicles 22:3 He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab: for his mother was his counsellor to do wickedly.
Proverbs 1:8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother.
Proverbs 23:22  Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old.
3.     Servants spirit
Proverbs 31 is the description of a wife and mother that is a servant to her family. Let's take a look.
Verse 10.  She is far above rubies
Verse 11-12. She is not a threat to her husband or in competition with him.
Verse 13- 15. Her servant spirit extends to her family. She delights in serving them. She finds pleasure in taking care of those she loves.

Proverbs 31:13-31
13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
      Mothers sew for us.
14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
      Mothers do the shopping.
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household and a portion to her maidens.
      Mothers cook for us.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
      Mothers work in the garden.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
      Mothers care for their health.
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
Her service extends beyond her family.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
Mothers do not allow  the weather to interfere with her service to her family.
22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
      Her husband brags about her.
24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
Mothers are discreet in conversation. They do not gossip.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
We are all proud of our mothers.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
      These virtues come with experience.
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
All these attributes develop as women live for God. They are God given.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
