STEWARDSHIP- Money

     Text: 1 Corinthians 4:1 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
     2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

          Money is a necessity. Currency is an item used for the exchange of products or services. How do we acquire this money?

Get a Job

           Proverbs 13:11 Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.

          2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

           How should we use our money? Buy food, clothing, shelter etc…

          1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
 7For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
 8And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
 9But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
 10For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Spend Wisely

           Isaiah 55:2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? Hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

Avoid foolish spending.

Don't be like the prodigal son.

           Luke 15:13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

Be Generous

           Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

          Acts 2:44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
          45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

Give Cheerfully

          2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Honor God with your money.

          Proverbs 3:9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase.

Test God

           The only place in the bible where we are told to put God to the test.

          Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Where is the tithe money spent?

          Deuteronomy 26:12 When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled;

What happens if I refuse to tithe?

          Haggai 1:6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.
 7Thus saith the LORD of hosts. Consider your ways.
 8Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.
 9Ye looked for much, and, lo it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? Saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.
 10Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew and the earth is stayed from her fruit.
