Despise not Little Things

            Text: Proverbs 30:24-28 There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:

25 The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;

26 The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;

27 The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;

28 The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces.

            We can learn a lot of things from the small. This is true with these things and with people that seem to have little value. It is not for us to judge others. That is God's job.

Let others have their own ideas

            Romans 14:3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

            Galatians 4:14 And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.

            I believe Paul's problem was his eyes. Read verse 15.

            Job 36:5 Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.

Jesus was despised and rejected

            Isaiah 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

            Zechariah 4:10 For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth.

The feeble are necessary

            1 Corinthians 12:18-23  But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary.

23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.

            25 The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer.

            Proverbs 6:6-11 King James Version (KJV)

Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,

Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

26 The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;

            Conies are actually rabbits. They are not able to defend themselves against their enemies so they live where their enemies can't get to them.

We provide shelter for ourselves and our families.

            27 The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;

              The locusts like the ant doesn't have a king to lead them. Every Christian must strive to work in unity with others in the body of Christ.

             Ephesians 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

28 The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces.

            Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Conclusion

            Let's learn from these little creatures and from little people.
