Text: Mark 9:36-37 And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them,
37 Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.

Does this give you a feeling of Jesus as a friend? From this picture we learn from an early age how God cares and loves us. We are important to God even as a small child.
Children learn to sing "Jesus loves me this I know, for the bible tells me so".
Mothers influence
Mothers instill many characteristics in their children that remain their whole life. Some good and some that aren't so good.
Like mother, like daughter
1 Kings 21:25 But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the Lord, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.
2 Kings 8:18 And he(Jehoram) walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of the Lord.
Herod's birthday
Matthew 14:6-8 But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.
7 Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask.
8 And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, give me here John Baptist's head in a charger.
Timothy's mother
What about Godly mothers?
2 Timothy 1:5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

God awareness
Godly mothers teach their children all these Godly attributes to their children by word and example. By doing so they make our society, cities, states etc. a wholesome safe and pleasant place to live.
Today is the day to thank them in a very special way.
