John 18:37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
Jesus is the head of the church. He said he was king. He was talking about being the king of Israel. Israel and the church is one and the same. God wanted his people to be free from sin. This means we must be redeemed from the condemnation of sin. Jesus is not only our king. He is our redeemer. He also came as the saviour of the world.
Luke 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
John 4:42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
Acts 5:31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
