SPIRITUAL GIFTS

            Text: 1 Corinthians 12:1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

            1 Corinthians 12:2-5 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. These people were taught Idol worship.

                  ³ Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed.

            The spirit of God will Never use derogatory language when referring to our Saviour.

 And that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

            Nor would anyone be inclined to say "Jesus is Master!" without the insight of the Holy Spirit.

            ⁴ Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

            God has various gifts. They all originate from God's Spirit.

⁵ And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.

            All true spiritual gifts come from the same Lord though they vary in the way they operate.

⁶ And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

            We don't receive instructions from different sources. They come from God.

Purpose of Spiritual Gifts

             1 Corinthians 12:7-11 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

⁸ For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

⁹ To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

¹⁰ To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

¹¹ But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

            All these gifts have a common origin, but are handed out one by one by the one Spirit of God. He decides who gets what, and when.

1 Corinthians 12:7-11 The Message

            God's various gifts are handed out everywhere; but they all originate in God's Spirit. God's various ministries are carried out everywhere; but they all originate in God's Spirit. God's various expressions of power are in action everywhere; but God himself is behind it all. Each person is given something to do that shows who God is: Everyone gets in on it, everyone benefits. All kinds of things are handed out by the Spirit, and to all kinds of people! The variety is wonderful:

All these gifts have a common origin, but are handed out one by one by the one Spirit of God. He decides who gets what, and when.
