Text: 1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
God has a divine order for the church, the home, the community etc.…
From the beginning the pecking order was established for order, peace and security.
On the other hand all people are on the same when it comes to our spiritual level.
Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
God is the head. The head of Christ is God.
John 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
John 8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
In the garden he prayed; NOT MY WILL, BUT YOUR WILL BE DONE.
Jesus is next. The head of every man is Christ.
Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Man is third. The head of the woman is the man.
1 Corinthians 11:4-16 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
In Paul's day the woman's hair was a sign of modesty with honor and dignity. If a man in that day had long hair, he was viewed as being effeminate. A woman's head was covered not only with her hair, but with a vail. Her whole head was to be covered. Not just the top of it.
5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
The woman of that day was viewed as being without honor if her head was uncovered when praying, or in public.
6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. Was a vail and short hair O.K.?
7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
Even today gender identity in required. Women should look like women and men should look like men.
8 For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.
Men and women should respect each other's role in life.
9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
Women was created as a help meet. They are to help the man in his God given role in life.
10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.
Angels have a function to fill in God's plan. This is true for men and women.
11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.
Woman was created from man's rib; however man is born of woman and man fathers children. Both genders have their part to play.
13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
It is a shame for a man to appear like a woman.
15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.
Woman is fourth. 1 Timothy 5:14 I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
Then comes the animal kingdom, the fish, the birds etc.
There is a God given order in the animal kingdom.
